Selma at the Abbey
by Elsie J. Oxenham
In this story, a newcomer makes her first appearance in the Abbey books. Selma, a Scots girl working in a Glasgow shop, is the friend of Angus Reekie, to whom were introduced in Strangers at the Abbey. Angus, cherishing a high regard for the Abbey girls, is convinced that nothing would be better for Selma than to be invited to live for a time at the Abbey with Joy, Joan and Jen, and so acquire their way of thinking and living. How this plan succeeds and how Selma reacts to the Abbey folk makes yet another convincing and satisfying story for girls.
